Chronic Illnesses, LGBTQIA+, Isolation and Chronic Disconnection

There are no set rules for how to show up in therapy. Maybe you are suffering from depression or anxiety. Perhaps you are dealing with an identity crisis or body image issues. Possibly, you are asking more profound questions: you may be re-assessing your cultural, philosophical, or spiritual stance. All of these apply, and each is a valid reason for starting therapy.

As a relational-cultural therapist, I offer clients radical respect and a deep appreciation of their suffering and of the ways they have learned to survive when important relationships have been hurtful. I view isolation and chronic disconnection as the cause of much of the suffering that brings clients into treatment. Through a process known as mutual empathy, we generate a sense of safety, as well as the vital insight that will get you moving from protective disconnection back into growth-fostering connection.

I am a Lebanese-American, queer-identified, agnostic, and resilient individual. I prioritize the well-being of my LGBT+ clients, and ensure a culturally-sensitive, culturally-responsive approach to therapy. I am adept at counseling individuals with a chronic illness, such as chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia.
